INTENSE PULSED LIGHT (IPL)
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) systems, produces a precise beam of light energy, which safely transmits through the skin, selectively targeting pigment in hair the follicles. When this light is absorbed by the pigment in the follicle of the hair, it converts to heat, which in turn causes thermal damage to the follicle and permanently destroys the hair. The heat also disables the cells responsible for new hair growth.
Our IPL machine from the newest generation comes with a clever cooling system that gives skin -0 degree comfortable feel. Most areas of the body/ face and most hair colours can be treated safely & effectively.
At Blush, in order to allow our clients to achieve the maximum effect, our specialists will determine the intensity of the light depending on our client’s skin condition, hair growth and volume.
Blush uses a special clear gel with the IPL in order to cool the skin and decrease reflection of the IPL waves from the skin.
Unwanted hair reduced permanently, leaving you with smooth silky skin!!

HOW DOES IPL WORK?
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) systems produces a concentrated beam of light energy, which safely transmit through the skin and selectively target pigment in the hair follicles.
The pigment in the follicle of the hair will absorbed the light that converts to heat energy, this heats up the follicle which then retard and prevent future hair growth.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF IPL?
IPL is one of the most effective & safe method to achieve permanent hair reduction in a shorter period of time.
It is considered to be less painful than other methods (eg:waxing) and treatments are effective without the requirement to have hair grow out before the treatment. This means that you can shave right up till your IPL session. IPL treatments are more comfortable with less skin irritation and no downtime after the treatments.
HOW MANY TREATMENT DO I NEED?
In the initial 2-3 treatments, clients may notice approximately 20% -30% reduction.
A series of minimum 6-8 treatments are required to achieve satisfactory reduction. Results varies with individual and some clients may need more treatments if results is not up to expectation.
HOW SHOULD THE TREATMENT AREA LOOK IMMEDIATELY AFTER TREATMENT?
The area treated may be red, warm and bumpy for up to 48h hours after treatment. If this is uncomfortable you can cool the area with a cold towel. (avoid ice)
In some rare cases, darkening of pigmented lesions may occur. The treatment causes pigmented lesions to darken prior to drying out and sloughing off which may take several days to two weeks.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER A TREATMENT?
Two or three days after the treatment, stubble may reappear. It is fine to shave if you need to. In one to two weeks’ time, you can see shedding of the damaged hair. This is NOT the new hair growth.
When the shedding is complete, some new hair will reappear and it would be time for your next treatment. (typically 4-6 weeks)
CAN I REMOVE HAIR BETWEEN TREATMENTS?
You can shave between treatments as IPL works with the bulb and shaft of the hair, which is untouched by shaving. If you tweeze or wax between treatments, you have to wait till the hair grows back before doing your treatment.
WHY IS MY HAIR STILL GROWING?
This is a common question for new clients of IPL. After pulsed light treatment, the body requires time to shed the hair which had been thermally destroyed. It may take few days and perhaps two to three weeks to fully shed the thermally damaged hair. Even though it appears as though hair continues to grow, it is actually the body shedding the hair, and over time the treated hair will grow out of the skin. This should not be mistaken for continued hair growth.
ARE THERE ANY FACTORS THAT MIGHT AFFECT TREATMENT?
IPL does not work well with light-coloured hair as there's not much pigment. There might also be possible complications for clients with darker skin tone, due to the high concentration of pigment in the skin.
Certain medications such as muscle relaxants, anti-depressants, anti-cancer drugs, acne medications and topical creams containing Retin-A may make your body more sensitive to light, hence it is recommended that clients be re-scheduled at a time when they are no longer on medications.
- Avoid sun exposure or the use of tanning beds for the duration of your course of treatments as actively tanned skin cannot be treated.
- Avoid use of perfumed products (e.g. deodorants) or sun-block lotions
- Avoid exfoliating for 1 week before treatment.
- On the day of your IPL treatment session you should avoid wearing tight clothing.
